I love the way the light is shining through the petals of the Tibouchina plant. Although it is frost tender it will survive in our cold climate with just a bit of protection from the frost. I like to have this plant in my garden because I can plainly remember the one that was growing near our backdoor when I was growing up. Every year it would be cut right back in winter but in spring, summer and autumn it would quickly grow into a strong healthy shrub covered with brightly coloured flowers.
This is a clump of bulbs that has large green leaves at the base and tall stems of soft lily flowers colored with shades of white and pale pink. I'm not sure what kind of lily they are.
So much rain this summer has promoted so much growth in the garden and the little creatures that live in it.
