A dark beauty in the garden. This camellia is a slow growing small camellia with dark red glossy new growth and deep red rich blooms. My favourite camellia.
A good all year round plant the Michelia Magnolia has dark leaves and elegant small white flowers in abundance. After the flowers it is covered with unusual looking seed pods. I have this one as a standard as well as the typical tree form.
This is a strange bulb type plant that I have no idea of what it is. ??? Love the patterns on the stalk.
The Fairy Magnolia is a modest tree that waits to be discovered rather than shouts "look at me". The buds and blooms on the are both attractive.
The density and longevity of the blossom make this such a spectacular tree every spring. The shape of the tree and neat kidney shaped leaves make it one of the best all round specimens in the garden. It is related to the Cercis canadensis "Forest Pansy", which is better known for its dark foliage.
This is a view of one section of the Bunyip Botanical Garden from the drive way. Considering there are equally large gardens on all sides of the house you can understand why the family calls it the Bunyip Botanical Garden.
This simple little plant has been an essential part of Mum's garden for as long as I could remember. I think it was part of her mother's garden too.
