This elegant Hellebore was one of Mum's more recent but very special purchases. Nothing made more happy than a special acquisition such as this. I think this is in my top 3 favourite photos for the #365 photo project. The yellow Magnolia Elizabeth flowers alongside the more common pink form. Mum was very proud of this display.
The May bush always heralds in the Spring. It is a plant that has always been in Mum's gardens. I remember it at the farm in Iona growing along the wooden fence. I have it my garden too because it reminds me of the old garden and it is a mass of flowers without any fuss.
The combination of plants that flower throughout the year and provide a beautiful backdrop or compliment to each other are part of the reason that Mum's garden is so special. Magnolia and azaleas look lovely together.
Mum has a large variety of Magnolia's in her garden. They are not the evergreen variety but belong to the family of Magnolia soulangeana. This tree with masses of blooms is a beauty right in view from the front door.
I'm not sure what this tree is so if you help identify it please let me know in the comments. It is lovely with the clumps of bells hanging as if to let you know the leaves are on their way.
The brilliantly coloured tulips are at the back door garden path.
