The soft muted shades of the Hibiscus flower makes it look like a water colour painting rather than the real thing.
It seems odd that iPhoto doesn't have a collage option in its suite of tools but then books and cards are geared at selling the finished product. This collage was created using the card maker in iPhoto and then I simply took a screen shot. The power was off and so I wanted to use a collage maker that didn't need any Internet connection and I was very happy with the options iPhoto offered.
We have been so lucky compared to other Australians this summer. Queenslanders have suffered terrible floods and a Category 5 cyclone. Other Victorians have also been flooded losing their homes and crops and again there has been bush fires in Gippsland. We have had a lot of rain and the creek has risen along our fence-line and hopefully that is the worst it will be.
Somehow when we built our front garden we managed to create a funnel for the water to race down the front path toward the front door. and then along the side of the house out to the drive way. Visitors had better bring their gum boots on rainy days :-) The Pineapple Lilies (Eucomis) are flourishing with the extra rain this summer. This one caught my eye as it sits against an antique chaff cutter. The rusty piece of machinery complimented the stems of flowers, showing off their beauty
This is the Water Lily in our garden pond. The pond is full of frogs and fish that hide under the lily leaves so that the Cranes don't try and have them for dinner. If you look closely you can just see one little fish.
The bright colours of the Canna Lilies look striking against the gray green background of the eucalyptus trees.
I love the soft shade of yellow in this wattle on Mum's drive. This must be an autumn flowering version because we usually see them in spring.
