This view includes the extension of the pond path that we finished in time for the visit from Mum's garden club early in October.
The roses and watsonias flowering together make a showy display. Its great when plants work together.
Another cutting from Mum's garden that I have now divided into 3 separate bushes. The variegated weigela gets its new leaves and then bursts into bloom smothering the bush with pink flowers. More pink for November.
Hannah Gorden roses and Irises fill the round garden with colour in spring. The Vulcan magnolia which is the centre piece has suffered from an attack from a disease that causes the leaves to be misshapen. A lot of the trees have had the sam problem this year due to the high humidity. Most of the plants have recovered without any help so fingers crossed that the Vulcan does too.
The old cubby house is now the garden shed. I love how the making it a part of the garden has made it a special feature. It also acts as a privacy screen for our bathroom window and provides a beautiful little garden scene of its own with hyderanges and berberis on its back wall.
The Titan rose was originally on a wall behind a weeping tree and it kept outgrowing it's spot so we moved it here to be on a large trellis where it could show off properly. Unfortunately it hasn't risen to the challenge. Maybe 2012 will see it take off again.
This is a very reliable clump of bright pink bulbs that I thought were ixias but I believe are Watsonias. They can be easily moved and happily flower each year. |
