This incredibly colourful little creature (around 1.5 centimeters in length) looks like something you might find under the sea not on the leaves of an eucalyptus tree. The small caterpillars were voracious, leaving very little of the leaves where they found. Thank goodness they weren't any bigger!
These wind borne seed fairies have been caught in a web. They are almost luminescent in the morning light. This very fat Orb Weaving spider was devouring it's prey in the middle of its web, which is typical behaviour according to the Australian Museum website (http://australianmuseum.net.au/Garden-Orb-Weaving-Spiders). I love spending time on my Veranda, looking out over the garden. It has changed sooo much in the seven years that we have been here. The only tree that existed when we came is the gum tree that you can see with the blue-grey leaves.
