We passed this incredibly, huge Moreton Bay Fig tree on our way to the King's Park entrance and it reminded me of the amazing images that Shaun Tan created to illustrate Gary Crew's story - Memorial. I love the story and use it nearly every year, in my teaching, around the time of Anzac Day or Remembrance Day. Picture story books are such a powerful teaching springboard.
The first photos with my new camera, so much to learn, but I was pleasantly surprised with some of the results.
We had perfect weather for our first full day in Perth. We wandered around King's Park and enjoyed the beautiful botanic garden's full of natives and wild flowers. It has inspired me to sprinkle packets of seeds in my garden to see what eventuates instead of carefully planting bought pots of plants.
