Butterfly Mist or Blue Mist or Blue Torch

 Eupatorium sordidum or Bartlettina sordida

This handsome shrub has enjoyed growing in a protected spot in my Warragul garden. It likes the shade and the support of the chimney stack. The cold winters cause it to drop it's leaves but each spring it grows back quite quickly and produces bunches of purply pink flowers throughout the warmer months.
It seems to have many names, some of which I have used in the title. And it appears there are quite a few varieties though I haven't seen any in the plant nurseries.
I am going to try and propagate this one using tip cuttings - even though a small tip is hard to find on a plant with such large leaves and branches.

This is a very new plant in Mum's garden. It must have been one her last acquisitions and would undoubtedly be "something very special" It has a lovely citrus smell and the real name is Agastache mexicana.

This is a spectacular plant and I think quite unusual. I haven't been successful in growing it but I intend to keep trying.

A dark beauty in the garden. This camellia is a slow growing small camellia with dark red glossy new growth and deep red rich blooms. My favourite camellia.

#251/365 May Bush in September

The May bush always heralds in the Spring. It is a plant that has always been in Mum's gardens. I remember it at the farm in Iona growing along the wooden fence. I have it my garden too because it reminds me of the old garden and it is a mass of flowers without any fuss.
PictureI love spending time in the garden and finding which plant has come to fore with a beautiful display.
