We call this the Cobra Head Lily but I don't really know what it's proper name is. It's a tiny flower, only a few centimeters tall, that once in your garden is impossible to get rid of. It spreads from little corms in the roots and if you leave a tiny bit in the ground it will start a new plant. If it wasn't slightly invasive it would be quite charming.
Neoregelia Carolinae is commonly called the Blushing Bromeliad because the leaves in the center of the plant turn bright red just before it flowers. The flowers are tiny and quite strange!
I want one of these in my garden. The out-door dunny at Tesselaar Gardens -Gardening and Rare Plants Expo.
